Poem - The Pedestrian

I put my pencil down and stand up,
no longer able to write anymore.
Gazing out of my window,
What has happened to this world?

Stepping outside my home,
I stood on the road, silence.
As I breathed in the dry air,
my presence echoed through the streets.

The world is no longer the same,
and my writing cannot change.
No longer controlled,
I paced my walk on the silent road.

Strolling past house after house,
lights after lights continued to emit through the windows.
Looking up at the starry skies,
how could this have happened to us?

Trapped within technology,
we are no longer alive.
Amid the falling stars,
We too are falling down.

Within this soulless room I sit,
lonely and forever stuck alone.

No longer able to live my own,
I am now stuck here for generations on.
Unable to hold back my tears,
what has this world become?

The world is no longer the same,
and my writing cannot change.
For I am now stuck here forever,
crying that I can no longer see the starry skies.
